Adobe CC: What’s new for video editors & directors?

As you’re probably already aware of, a subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud gives you access to new features and updates as soon as they’re released by Adobe. In the new Premiere Pro CC (2016) and After Effects CC (2016), you’ll find new “ingest workflows” which will allow you to continue editing while importing in the background. Of course, the ability to do that is not entirely novel but you can be sure that the speed and **important** STABILITY will be greatly improved.

With the latest software updates you’ll be certain that your expensive computing hardware will be used to its fullest extent, allowing you to work with any type of video format. Plus, you could even work in native 8k!

It’s called Creative Cloud for teams, so that means I can have my whole team using the software right?

Short answer – yes you can have your whole team on board and using the Adobe CC applications… but you have to pay for the number of individual seats. The $480 cost for Creative Cloud for teams is the cost for a single user seat. I understand the the name “Creative Cloud for teams” may seem a little misleading, but it’s important to understand that there are some subtle distinctions between the Creative Cloud for individuals and the Creative Cloud for teams. As the chart below shows, one of the most beneficial aspects of the CC for teams is that it allows for centralized purchasing, deployment, administration, and overall license management. That ends up being very important for team leaders or managers in general.

For example, if you’re managing a team and someone decides to leave mid-project, you will have the ability to reassign that user seat to a new email address. That’s because the CC for teams licenses are registered to the non-profit itself, not to the individual employees.

Why can’t I just order Creative Cloud through the Adobe website?

If your organization is a non-profit and you’re looking to buy Creative Cloud, the process is made much smoother by going through an authorized reseller. The biggest and most obvious reason is because the Adobe website is simply not set up to process orders for non-profits. You can see a section of plans for Individuals, Educational customers, and For-profit companies, but not specifically for non-profits. The actual product that non-profits qualify for is the Creative Cloud for teams – for education, but it doesn’t mention that anywhere on the website.
